Australia, NT and SA
Break For The Border

Our time in the Northern Territory was nearly over, it was time to head for the border between NT and South Australia.

My rush had nothing to do with spending to long in the desert, or anything like that. NO.. the most important thing to happen in four years was only days away and we needed to be somewhere I could watch it. The Rugby World Cup Final, some how the doggy Ozy's had slipped there way into the final to face the only team likely to win the tournament ENGLAND.

The night before crossing the border we stayed at Kulgera, the most southerly town of NT. After setting camp for the night we watched an awesome sunset, before I started dinner.

The next morning we make it to the NT/SA border. It would be rude not to have a few photos, Muggins gets to do the setting up of the teams cameras as well as the tiring run and jump onto the wall each time (within 10sec of pressing the button).

South of the border, we start to see odd signs.. a sure sign we are approaching Coober Pedy, the opal mining centre of Australia.

Also the worlds centre for 'Nutters', there is more loons here than every other square mile of in the world!!  I'm serious.

Spot the very large Lizard

Umm.. Most of the people in Coober Pedy live in dugouts, houses under ground dug out of the rock. The temperatures get so hot here that there brains are all cooked.

See what I mean!!

See I knew it they ARE all Aliens!!

Coober Pedy is not just famous for its opals and being a nut house, it is also been the location of many box-office hit films. Some of which have left numerous props scattered about the town, which only adds to its already eccentric look of the place. Who recognises the bus from Mad Max bellow.
